Cinco de Mayo in Wynwood
This week will once again bring us Cinco de Mayo, the annual celebration when we take a moment to observe the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. There are lots of events going on before, during, and even after Cinco de Mayo right here in Wynwood and beyond. Let’s take a look!
This Wednesday, Chef Sarah Myers will be the instructor at the Viva Mexico Class at Wynwood Yard. If you can manage to procure a ticket you’ll be able to participate in a lesson on how to prepare great Mexican food and drink including fresh margaritas, hand-rolled tacos, and delicious handmade guacamole. The event begins at 7:30pm.
There are two Cinco de Mayo events to check out beginning with the Nacho Ordinary Festival right in front of Blackbird Ordinary on Southwest 1st Avenue. The block party will include performances by names like Spam Allstars, Problem Kids and several DJs and there will even be a live mariachi band. This event is free to the public.
Have you participated in Free First Thursdays at PAMM on Biscayne Boulevard? If you’re a cycling fan, you can meet some new people and fellow enthusiasts plus listen to music by Afrobeta or create your own spoke card with PAMM artists. This event is free just like the name suggests and kicks off at 6pm until 9pm.
While you’re checking out these events, make sure to drop by our art gallery!
