Join Us for Our Elizabeth Jordan Event

If you’ve yet to visit our Scenario Gallery, we’ve got a great event happening in April featuring talented artist Elizabeth Jordan called Lorenzo Would Approve: Deconstructing Culture.

Elizabeth Jordan was born in 1970 to Russian parents and grew up in a bilingual household in the city of Sea Cliff, New York.  In 1992 she would have the opportunity to explore her roots even deeper after moving to Russia and living there for over a decade where she would raise her children.

In between her responsibilities as a full time wife and mother, Jordan began to develop a hobby and passion for photography during her time in Russia.  However, it wasn’t until 2003 when she decided to turn her hobby into a thriving career as a professional artist after moving to the city of London.  Jordan’s work would go on to capture the beauty and dignity of people dealing with extreme circumstances including poverty and political under-representation in developing countries, showcasing fascinating stories of women and children.

As Jordan’s work continued, she developed an interest in medical research and would soon begin to explore how her artwork could assist with supporting scientific research towards fighting diseases that have affected many of the individuals depicted in her photographs.  Her series of light sculptures using fiber optic filaments and vintage medical beakers resulted in a residency at the Museum of Art and Design in 2014.

Our Elizabeth Jordan event begins with a private, invitation only exhibition on April 16th at 7:30 pm with the artist herself followed by a public exhibition beginning the following day.
