Uber Dips Its Toes into Food Delivery
In terms of public transportation, Uber is perhaps the de facto standard in getting around Wynwood and Miami. The same people that can do you the favor of dropping you off at your favorite eatery can now take things a step further and also bring you lunch at home or at the office thanks to the new UberEats.
Launched last Tuesday, UberEats will deliver food for you from more than 10 participating restaurants including Doraku Sushi, Ms. Cheezious, the Salty Donut, Wynwood Kitchen & Bar, Bocce, and SoCal Taco. The service is available throughout the week from 8am all the way through midnight, though these hours will vary based on the restaurant’s hours of operation.
UberEats is currently available throughout the Brickell area up to Hollywood as well as throughout Miami Beach. Delivery is relegated largely to the east of I-95 in Wynwood and the downtown area. There are imminent plans to eventually expand delivery to other neighboring cities and neighborhoods like Coral Gables, South Miami, and Coconut Grove.
UberEats is separate from the Uber app but functions similarly. After entering payment information, you can browse restaurants based on delivery time along with their full menu. There is also a section available for special instructions should you need to do so. Delivery costs a flat $4.99 fee and there is no surge pricing unlike Uber nor do you need to tip the driver.
