Wynwood’s New Pop-Up Shop
Although many people have switched to e-reader devices like the Amazon Kindle or the iPad, there are still people out there that prefer the traditional feel of a physical book and the excitement of physically turning a page to find out what happens next. One of South Florida’s most famous bookstores is the venerable Books and Books which continues to draw those who prefer traditional books.
What you may not be aware of is that there is a new Books and Books offshoot of sorts called Books + Books + Bikes + LEBO located right here in the Wynwood area. The pop-up shop opened just two weeks ago and features more than just books. Customers will also find used vinyl records, bicycles, and plenty of Wynwood art prints courtesy of local muralist David “LEBO” Le Batard. The rather unusual fusion of items is being referred to as “analog”, a focus on items that are not digitized.
The Wynwood pop-up shop will be sticking around for at least a year, if not longer. It’s currently housed within a warehouse storefront located just a few blocks to the west of the numerous art galleries found on Northwest Second Avenue. Besides the LEBO art and vinyl, customers will find over 2,000 books that are largely out of print and are heavily discounted.
Books + Books + Bikes + LEBO has yet to gain a significant amount of attention but there will be a grand opening party on Tuesday, June 28 at 6:30 pm intended to drum up interest and awareness. You can visit the pop-up shop at 2602 NW Fifth Avenue from 10 am to 7 pm.
